COOKIE POLICY
This Cookie Policy explains how THE SEO ENGINE ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our marketing website or use our platform.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide reporting information to website owners.
We use a minimal number of cookies — strictly those necessary to operate the platform securely. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, or any cross-site tracking technologies.
2. Cookies We Use
The following table lists every cookie placed by THE SEO ENGINE platform:
| Cookie Name | Type | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
seo_session |
Strictly Necessary | Session | Authenticates your login session on the dashboard and admin panel. Required for the platform to function. Cleared when you close your browser. |
seo_csrf_token |
Strictly Necessary | Session | Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) protection token. Required for secure form submissions. |
cookie-consent |
Functional | 365 days | Stores your cookie consent preference (accepted/declined) so we don't show the consent banner on every visit. |
3. Analytics — Umami (Cookie-Free)
Client-hosted blog pages use Umami Analytics to collect aggregate page view statistics. Umami is specifically designed to be privacy-preserving:
- Does not use cookies or any persistent tracking identifiers.
- Does not track individual users across sites or sessions.
- Does not collect IP addresses in identifiable form.
- Collects only aggregate page views, referrer source, and device/browser type.
- All analytics data is stored on our own Hetzner Germany servers.
Because Umami does not use cookies or persistent identifiers, it does not require cookie consent under the ePrivacy Directive or UK PECR.
4. Third-Party Cookies
We do not embed any of the following:
- Google Analytics or Google Ads tracking
- Facebook Pixel or Meta tracking
- LinkedIn Insight Tag
- Any third-party advertising or remarketing pixels
Stripe (our payment processor) may set cookies during the checkout flow to manage payment sessions. These are governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.
5. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View what cookies are stored on your device.
- Delete individual or all cookies.
- Block cookies from specific sites or all sites.
Note: blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent the dashboard from functioning correctly.
